Contacts ........... Lenses that is!

Well I have had enough of my glasses, and eventually taken that step to go out and get contact lenses.
Having glasses is easy, but when you are getting blinder and need glasses more often, it does get a bit much. Like when you are cooking and watching TV at the same time...it is rather foggy!!!
There is nothing worse than opening a pot lid and all of a sudden your perspective on anything is rather misted!!
I would have loved to have gone for Lasik surgery, but at R 14 000.00 which I don't have and no where near blind enough for the medical aid to pay, contacts it is!

Now after much debate about what optomotrist to go to, I eventually just called Mullers at the Paddocks, and got an appointment and that was it.
I could have gone to Canal walk.... but Spec-savers at Canal Walk are absolutely useless, and Mullers there have funny people taking calls!!!
Well I was a bit sceptical at first about putting contacts in since I have heard horror stories and watch some candid camera, where they recorded people trying to put them in................

The optomotrist put the right eye's lense in, then when it came to the left.......... ya well no fine there has to be some sort of an issue!!
Something always has to be stubborn, whether it be the eye, the eyelid that won't stop trying so dam hard to blink it's not funny, or the lenses that won't come off the finger!!!
I tried to do it eventually, and after much laughter and tears and more laughter they were in and out then in again no problem!
Now all I had to do was get to the car without too many people staring at my red eyes, thinking that I had just heard the worst news in the world instead of knowing that I just made a very good descision...... No problems there I think!

Well that night I had to take them out, that's where the fun started.......
It was alot more difficult when I was at home under no pressure.... rather odd, but I got them out without permanently blinding myself this time!
Yup so far so good, the brain is still been reprogrammed to ignore the foreign object in the eye, but it is cool being "normal" again!!
Lets just hope I dont' get tooooo dronk and try and take my cornea's out one night!!!!

Dominique Roux

Dominique Roux
Born: 22 August 2003

Dominique was a little dot when she was born, with a mop of black hair!!
(Must run in the Roux genes for babies to have alot of hair!!)
Although she is only 2 and a bit........... she is going on 22 I tell you!!!
She is very articulate and very vocal.
You have to be so careful about what you say around her because she is like a
sponge just taking everything in, and when you least expect it, she will say exactly what you said!!
It is weird when little ones are walking and talking, because they are a person, just really little!
They have their own opinion on things and know waht they want or don't want and will tell you exactly what they are
thinking.

It is true what they say... "Kids say the darndest things", because Dominique has had us
all in complete fits of laughter often with the things that she says!!
I have learned to watch her AT ALL TIMES.... she knows where the lipstick is and knows how to use it!!!
She is so quick, one second she is there, the next second she is gone, off to find something she is not suppose to have and we have completely overlooked!!
Yup she is like and energy ball rolling around grabbing everything quickly and running away!!
But A real little Madam and we love her to bits!!!

Stitch

Stitch, the new Office pet!!
Mark (Barfoot) just got this Kitten about a week ago,
and he has been coming to the office every day!!
He is really cute and loves to play on my desk, while I am trying to work!!!
He has also captured the hearts of us all in the office and has been dubbed
"Official Time Waster 2006"!!!!!
I have had to learn to type around a little kitty who likes to sleep on my desk
in between me and the keyboard!!!

Boo-Nunnie

R.I.P. Boo-Nunnie
I was very sat on Friday 27/01/06........
My bunny has to be euthenaised, because her back leg was badly broken.
The worst of it was that I had to "make the call" to euthanaise her. After what seemed like forever a vet type person confirmed that a bunny cannot survive with only 1 back leg,
as that is their means of escape and protection.
When I saw her gimpy leg, I couldn't move. I ran to get Juan.
When he saw how sad I was he wanted to cut the bunny's leg off and stitch it up, just so it had a second chance. I think he knows how much my pets mean to me.
But it couldn't be done for very very obvious reasons ofcourse.....
1. who was going to catch bunny
2. who was going to operate
3. Bunnies die from shock very very easily.....
So it was inevitable that were under no circumstances going to perform surgery on my bunny!
Juan just couldn't understand that I couldn't go anywhere near her or stand to see her like that. That leg looked awful.
I wasn't there when they went to catch her, but I had the box ready for her burial.
I waited for the shot and then I knew it was all over, quickly.
Rather have her out of pain and suffering, than to let it die painfully.
I went to put her in her "coffin", had to do it myself. Made sure she wasn't squashed in her box.
Sorry about the sad depro post, but my boo-nunnies memory must go on!!!
Even though she was a bit old and blind she was still cool.
She used to get accidentally kicked alot.... she used to run up to my legs all the time, and I never used to see her and started walking.......... bye bye bunny!!
I will miss boo-nunnie, she was my first bunny, and definately the biggest biaatch too!!
She is now resting in peace next to oscar in the pet cemetary under the tree......
(don't ask about Oscar!)
